Wiggety Wack Wednesday.

Hey Sports fans. Every Wednesday, I’m putting a post entitled Wiggety Wack Wednesday, chronicling the wackest things of the past week. Since this is the first, We’ve got a lot of Ground to cover. Brace yourself.

8 Diagrams

This album was Plain Terrible. I went to Rock the Bells this summer when it came around, and was so excited, thinking I would see the Wu in full force. I was wrong, there was no Toney Starks. This was because of his own tour, which is crappy, but excusable. There is, however, no reason this album was this craptacularly bad. There was so little of the two best members, Ghost and Meth, hearing them felt like how crack must feel for Amy Winehouse. But, in truth, though far superior to everyone else’s, their verses weren’t spectacular. Raekwon and Face are griping about the production, however, it wasn’t really that bad. It was classic, textbook RZA, which I for one love. Rae said they will release a WTC album sans the RZA to which I say bullocks. Wu Tang without the RZA is like Playboy without Hef.

Florida Hip Hop

It plain sucks. Flo-Rida? T-Pain, complete with his liking for Ray-J’s “big meat’…..????? Plies? Rick Ross is okay. Trina? Where’s 2 Live Crew when you need them?

Wait. What did I just say?!

People Not Buying Music

I’m not going to go off about people downloading music. Trust me, I do it all the time. But I thought it was pretty cool when Saul Williams released his last album with an option to pay. I just recently read how he and Trent Reznor, the album’s producer, agreed neither would ever attempt such a thing ever again. Now, $20 is waaaay too much for a CD, $9 is cool over iTunes, but you don’t get the artwork. I think $5 for an entire album is a quality investment, especially when it’s a quality album. I wouldn’t take $5 for SouljaBoyTellem.com, but come on people, Saul cuts a great album and 78% of you opt to pay nothing? Way to be classy, SW fans.

College Tuition

I spoke to John D. Rockefeller’s great great great great grandson the other day, who is enrolled at BU. He said college was steep for them. Seriously, you would think the land of the free, or of milk and honey, or of opportunity, or whatever we call it would make it more manageable for regular people from regular families like myself to educate themselves. I’m just saying….

Amy Winehouse

This woman has a great talent, and, I don’t care what anyone else says, she’s cute in a bad girl kind of way. When I first heard her first album Frank I loved it, and instantly wanted more. Plenty of people in the music industry drink, and/or smoke crack. I’m not here to judge. But come on, Amy. Let the no talents stick to the crack (I hear Bobby Brown’s been clean for a whole hour) and keep making good music. I heard someone on the radio say Amy reminded them of Billie Holiday. If she stays on this current path she may die the same type of death, with much less of a memorable career.

All these companies coming out with rehashed Nike/Jordan Brand designs

I know what they say about flattery. Sometimes, though, it’s just ridiculous. How many Jordan XI’s are you going to make? I don’t care how many colors they’re in, or what little differences you try to throw in, it’s the same thing, minus the Jumpman and the original craftsmanship. That goes for the Air Force one as well.

Nike

I love Nike, I really do. But the AF1 packs this year were 90% GARBAGE. Not even Japan was a top to bottom good pack. Seriously, sucky shoes from Japan? When does that happen? Also, Nike SB is grasping at straws it seems. Skate or Die? Great. Appetite for Destruction? Okay. MF DOOM? Awesome! J-Rods? Not so much. Ditto for almost every other dunk not mentioned a couple sentences ago. Real heads won’t mind if you don;t put out as many models every few months, as long as the ones you do put out are quality, I promise. It wasn’t all bad, Hiroshi Fujiwara’s drops were all good, and the Atmos AM’s, along with Huf’s, were nicely done. But by and large, Nike seems to be cycling through overdone ideas, or introducing newer, suckier ones.

SBTG

$500 for the SBTG dunks?! Are you #^!%*$ kidding? I don’t care about the box!

The Dream

“Shawty you a ten” makes me want to kill a kitten. It sucks gramatically and musically, a feat unrealized since “We Be Clubbin’”
