Music to Keep Me Sane
I’ve been laying on an incline in a freezing cold room, sipping gatorade and shutting off the lights to watch my cast glow in the dark. When I’m not playing Super Smash on Wii, I’ve been listening to these two songs, on endless repeat. They’ve yet to get old, I don’t think they ever will. Buggin’ Out 09 by Cons and Cudi, and Coroner’s Music by OJ Simpson (Guilty and Madlib). Eat it up, you slags.
Swagger’s Back & All That!
Whatup Tho!
It’s been a while, and I return to you with a broken ankle, but I know you missed me, interwebs! but F all the sitting around feeling bad for myself, hopped up on painkillers waiting for my gimpy ankle to return to its former majesty, when I’ve got two blogs, a music venture, a great lady in my life, and a job that I’ll have to start back at next week. F THAT SON.
As you can see, I’ve had a pretty tumultuous 2009 thus far. Family deaths, breakups, school, music, life in general, Weekend, the ankle, going all Chris Breezy on my old PC screen (RIP), and so on and so forth. I realized today, while semi-sober after the perqs had worn off and my ankle resumed its nonstop throbbing, that somewhere along the line I had let something or someone or some situation sap my drive. I had become OK with just being a regular person and letting things I loved slip to the wayside, I had become, in one word, complacent. Complacency is the sworn enemy of progress, the hobgoblin of great minds and great intentions. Now, I’m not saying I’m a great mind, but I do have good and great intentions, and I do strive to make progress is many if not all facets of my life. I don’t aspire to be any ruler, or have any megalomaniacal, grandiose goals for myself or anyone I love, but, for some reason, I feel like, for me personally, if when I die I cannot look back on my life and know beyond a shadow of a doubt that I changed the world or impacted it for the better, even in a small way, it was completely worthless. It took a broken ankle, surgery, a cast, and a couple hundred milligrams or Perqs every four hours for me to realize this, but hey, better late and broken than never.
That being said, weekend is doing great. You never see Lee on here, which is cool, but dude is becoming like a brother to me, and we find ourselves on the same page. Weekend, I hope, will be a vehicle for us to exact some of the change we would like to create upon the world. How? Only God knows that at this point, but we shall see. And hopefully, so will the world.
I’m going to be back here much more often. Not everyday, though, i want each non-fashion/music/pop culture post (a la this one) to mean something. Too much circulation makes the price go down.
It’s good to be back.
Peace, and Blessings to you,
Jordan Lebeau, 1/2 of Long Weekend.
Street Fashion Update – 2/19 – Ozzy, Stussy, Nike, GQ +
Here’s the rundown on the major happenings and drops in the street fashion bubble this week.
First up, the Dunk Hi Black safari. I love me some Dunk Highs, and I love me some black. I also like safari. Three outta three is not bad. They’re available now at select retailers, I don’t know where around hee, though I’m guessing either Concepts or BDGA or both.

If you can see, you’ve sen a lot of these 60/40 hiking shirts in recnt days. Yaeca has taken it and put a spin on it, giving it a hood. It seems simple, and it is, but I like it in the green shown. It’s simple, it’s a great color, a classic look. it’s over at Ships Jet Blue, I haven’t checked for price conversion.

Ozzy’s got his own Jack purcell, aptly named the straightjacket. I have to be honest, had someone described this to me before I saw it, I’d think it was the wackest shoe in recent memory. Having seen it before hearing about it, I think they pulled it off quite nicely. You can grab it at Livestock.

Super Sunglasses has collabed with Barneys NY for a run of 50 of these glasses. FYI, for those who asked, Super also made the glasses Jay wore at the grammys. They’re probably gone or on ebay for a ridiculous pricetag now, but they’re fresh nonetheless.

GQ released their 10 Best Dressed Men’s list, and Yeezy and TI both got spots. Yeezy’s jacket is crazy in this spread, I need it in my life. Pick it up on Newsstands.

And finally, Stussy’s Spring Lookbook is out. Pics below.

Grammys – MIA, Jay-Z, Kanye, T.I., Weezy – Swagga Like Us Live.
I had officially gotten sick of this song, but damned if this performance didn’t breathe some life into it. It was great, props to Maya for performing on her due date with no signs of having the baby itself onstage. Peep the vid.
Akira! Blu-Ray! February 2009!
I own the best Blu-Ray player there is, a PS3, and I’ve already watched Akira about 40 times, not at all exaggerating. However, I’ve never been more excited for any single movie to release for home use than this pack right now. it releases In Japan and the US on February 24th of this year, and it’s going to be about $45 USD. Preliminary pics are below. OMG! This will most certainly hold me over for a year, when the live action version is rumored to release.
Air Yeezys, New Kobe Commercial.
First, the commercial is for Kobe’s new Lo-top kicks, a game or HORSE with Mike Epps, DJ AM, and Mamba himself.
The Air Yeezys AM rocks in the commercial:

And the Quickstrike Yeezers expected to drop March of 09:

Liking the gray ones, and AM’s.
Vans 09 Spring Croc Pack
These are dope. I hate purple on light green, too, it’s so overdone and hardly done right. But these are sick for some reason. If BDGA gets these, I’m copping, seeing as how I never got the black herringbones. They drop when the title suggests. Peep.

Nike Dunk High 2009 Preview.
Notorious (2009) Trailer
This could actually be a good movie. It looks like they got Biggie as good as they could have. Peep, due out a week after my Bday!
New Strong Arm Steady – Can’t Let it Go
Here’s the single off the album Arms and Hammers Set to release early next year. Peep it.
